Globetrotting as an Island Boy

Travel isn’t just about ticking destinations off a list—it’s about the stories, the unexpected moments, and the places that feel like secrets waiting to be uncovered. I’ve wandered through the world, sometimes intentionally, sometimes by accident, but always with curiosity. Here are a few of my favorite adventures:

I arrived in Barbados expecting the usual touristy experience, but instead, I found myself walking for miles through quiet neighborhoods, past rum shops, and along sun-drenched roads to reach the beach. It was the best way to see the island—one step at a time.

There’s something about wandering an unfamiliar city alone that makes you truly appreciate its character. In Newcastle, I spent hours tracing its history from the castle keep to the Quayside. Yorkshire? A dreamscape of rolling hills and hidden villages, where I followed winding trails to places most tourists never see.

While most travelers head straight to Cusco, I found myself in Ayacucho, a city steeped in history, where colonial churches outnumber convenience stores. Arequipa, with its white volcanic stone buildings and stunning mountain backdrop, felt like a secret I had stumbled upon—one I wasn’t ready to leave.
